Work Remotely

If you have the ability to work remotely, I have a couple things to say, Take advantage of it. Get your work done, so you don’t get fired. Remote work can often be labeled as both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand you’ve got the ability to move around and work from wherever you want.

Now one the other hand, it can often be challenging to get work done. Let’s be honest, the last thing you want to do after waking up in a new city is open your laptop and start working. If you currently work remotely, I am sure you have heard someone tell you, “oh, I could never work remotely! I’s get nothing done!” And for many people, even some people that are working remotely now, it’s true.

At the end of the day, you have a job to do. You were hired with an expectation to get the job done. To have less oversite and more self-motivation and discipline, which is most likely what you presented that you could do. One easy way to assist in your focus to get work done is to go to a local coffee shop and get our of the house. Work outside on a beautiful day or even a coworking space and knock it out.

While having the comfort of your own space is pleasant from time to time, working in an isolated area comes with a few problems. If you’re someone with limited self-control, there is virtually no end to the number of distractions that can come up or you allow to come up.

Beyond distractions, there is a mindset change when you wake up and get yourself ready to head out. You’re setting yourself up for the day of remote work, prepared to conquer whatever gets thrown at you, not just waking up at 7:55 am to throw on some sweatpants, and a shirt for your 8:00 am call.

The best part of working remotely is you have the freedom to work from wherever you want. So please take advantage of it. If you’re traveling, one of the best ways to explore a new city is by working in a different spot every day. You will get to meet a lot of people, but the best part is that every time you clock out, you’re stepping into a new area. Within a week, you’ll have the lay of the land.

So make sure that if you are working remotely, you change up the space in which you work and take the time to get your mindset right by having a routine in place to get your day going.
