Visit San Diego

San Diego is a beautiful city on the Pacific coast of California, known for its beaches, parks, and warm climate. A deep harbor is home to a large active naval fleet, with the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier turned museum which is open to the public. So let’s dive into why you should visit San Diego. 

Balboa Park is a 1,200-acre urban cultural park, with plenty of open space, natural vegetation zones, green belts, gardens and walking paths. It contains museums, several theaters, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo. Balboa Park was placed in reserve in 1983. the park’s site is one of the oldest in the United States dedicated to public recreational use.  

The San Diego Zoo is considered one of the most prominent zoos housing more than 3500 animals of more than 650 species and subspecies. Its parent organization, San Diego Zoo Global, is one of the largest zoological membership associations in the world. The San Diego Zoo was a pioneer in the concept of open-air, cageless exhibits that re-create natural animal habitats. It is one of the few zoos in the world that houses and successfully bred the giant panda. 

Not far from the zoo, you can go check out the USS Midway Museum. The USS Midway is a historic naval aircraft carrier located in downtown San Diego at a Navy Pier. The ship houses an extensive collection of aircraft, many of which were build in Southern California. 

If you are anything like me and enjoy golf, Torrey Pines Golf Course is a 36 hole municipal public course. They have a North and South Course, and every year-end of January or February, the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour is held at Torrey Pines. It opened in 1957 and was built on the site of Camp Callan, A U.S. Army installation during World War II. The South Course was redesigned in 2001, and the North Course was redesigned in 2016. 

San Deigo has so much Miltary background and a place that you can learn more about the history but also go out and enjoy an excellent time around time and visit multiple attractions in a very close distance.
