For those that can’t get enough golf in their hometown, you have to get away on a destination golf vacation. There are certainly plenty of golf vacations to choose from, but you have to check out these top picks:
Pebble Beach- With Pebble Beach Golf Links and the Cypress Point Club both being listed amongst the Top 10 golf courses in the United States, it’s no wonder that the Monterey Peninsula is known as a golf mecca. With Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill also having been in the rotation for the PGA Tour’s Pebble Beach Pro Am, you could spend all of your time in Monterey just playing spectacular golf. Add in exploring the nearby quaint town of Carmel by the Sea or taking in a whale watching tour, and you have yourself a jam-packed high-end vacation.
Hilton Head Island- As one of the least publicized major golf destinations, Hilton Head Island is truly a diamond in the rough. The star of the show on Hilton Head is the Sea Pines Resort, which boasts three championship golf courses including Harbour Town Golf Links, which annually plays host to the PGA Tour’s Heritage Classic. Although one of the shorter venues on tour, Harbour Town always proves to be a tough test for the pros with its tight fairways and small greens. With plenty of shopping and beautiful beaches on this quaint coastal island, there’s nothing not to love about Hilton Head Island.
Pinehurst- Jam packed with nine championship golf courses and even more golf history, Pinehurst is the classic American golf resort. The resort has hosted numerous major golf tournaments including U.S. Opens, U.S. Amateurs, and a PGA Championship among several others. With plenty of spa, dining, and shopping to go around, Pinehurst is truly a complete golf vacation.
San Antonio- San Antonio isn’t a traditionally known golf getaway, but it is now becoming far more popular. The JW Marriot San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, complete with two TPC San Antonio golf courses and its own waterpark, now is the host of the PGA Tour’s Valero Texas Open. Just down the road there is also the La Cantera Resort & Spa, which has its Resort Course and Palmer Course if you’re looking for more golf. Add in other attractions like Six Flags Fiesta Texas and San Antonio’s River Walk downtown, and your golf getaway is complete.
